Carol Esther Godefroy (née Demers) passed away peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on 19 September 2025. She was born on 17 December 1943 to Mary (Graham) and Royal Demers in Montréal, Québec, and spent most of her youth growing up in Greenfield Park, Québec. After graduating from high school, she worked at the Sun Life Insurance Company before marrying James (Jimmy) Godefroy in 1964 and devoting her early years to raising her children. She later worked as an estate administrator and Trust Officer at both Guardian Trust and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. She was preceded in death by Jimmy who passed away in 2010, and by her granddaughter Hope.
She is survived by her sons Jim (Lin), Mark (Cheryl), and Andrew (Tammy), and her grandchildren Amanda, Alexander, Jackson (Jack) and Chloe.
Carol was an avid reader and well known among friends and family for having a love of British detective novels and authors. She was a member of Kingston’s Crossroads United Church and spent many happy years volunteering and making friends there after she moved to the city in retirement in 2014.
Visitation will take place on Monday October 6, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at the

Interment will follow the service at the Knowlton Cemetery, in Knowlton, Québec.
Her family extends their thanks to the Kingston General Hospital’s Palliative Care Centre for the active and considerate care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
